Service

Service is a key part of our discipleship at Spirit and Life. Looking to get plugged into a ministry team? Below is a list of our ministry teams and a brief description of what they do. Begin to serve God, others, and our church by joining one of our ministry teams described below!

Ministry Teams and Contact

Greeting

Extend a warm welcome to the people God is bringing to Spirit & Life for worship on a Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.and connect them to the ministries of the church through handing them a Lifeline.

Set up

Each week we need to get our box truck from the church offices to FPHS, unload all of our equipment, unpack it and set it up. Additionally, we need to rearrange tables and chairs to prepare our worship and hospitality spaces. After worship we need to pack it all up and return it to the truck and the truck needs to be returned to the church offices. Set up begins at 8:30 and ends at 12:30. Driving the truck requires being at the church offices at 8 and ends at 1.

Hospitality

Help us create a warm and welcoming environment by setting up our hospitality area. Every Sunday we unpack the hospitality containers, set out the food and necessary paper products, make coffee, and prepare a children’s station. After church, we need to clean up, wash the dishes, repack the supplies. Hospitality set up begins at 8:30 and finishes at noon.

Women’s Ministry

Want to help other women connect to God and to each other? Help us get a women’s ministry started by helping plan fellowship, study, and service events for women and girls.

Men’s Ministry

Want to connect with other guys and connect to God? Join our men’s ministry. Help John Jackson to plan weekly Bible studies as well as other events such as retreats or service projects.

Children

Help teach the stories of our faith to our children and pass along your faith to the next generation. Helping with children’s ministry means helping Janice set up the children’s area for Sunday morning and assisting Janice in the execution of the Sunday’s lesson. You could also assist Julie in the nursery caring for babies and toddlers. **Requires Safe Sanctuaries Training Certification**

Youth

Our vision for youth ministry involves 5 caring adults for every 1 of our teenagers. Adults are needed to be a short-term teacher during 2nd Hour (have a specific need for a science nerd), lead and organize a servant project, lead and organize a creative one-time event, offer your home for a special one-time event, agree to intercede in prayer for one teen for the entire school year. **Some of this requires Safe Sanctuaries Training Certification.**

Worship

Have a musical gift or talent? Want to help lead God’s people in worship? Being on our praise band involves presence at weekly rehearsals at our church offices, arriving to worship at 9 am to warm up, and helping assist in set up and tear down of the musical equipment.

Media

Help the people of Spirit & Life engage in worship through the creation, development, and execution of our Sunday morning slide shows. Being on the media team means prepping the Sunday morning presentation in our ProPresenter software, arriving at church to set up the computer and projection equipment, and helping take it down afterwards.

Small Groups

Want to help other people connect to God and to each other? Feel called to lead a small group? We are always looking for new small group leaders to provide new leadership to existing small groups or to start new small groups. The best way for new people to get involved in small groups is to start a new group!

To serve in one of these areas, contact Pastor Donna Taylor at donnataylor@vaumc.org and to connect you with our leadership.
