Come receive the imposition of Ashes with a time for prayer on Ash Wednesday at the Panera at Fortuna Center Plaza on 234 (4402 Fortuna Center Plz, Dumfries, VA  22025).

Pastor Matt Benton will be there from 10-1 and 4-6:30.

Also, Spirit and Life will be partnering with Dumfries UMC for an Ash Wednesday worship service at 7pm at Dumfries UMC (3890 Cameron St, Dumfries 22026)

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, a 40 day season before Easter where we prepare ourselves to celebrate the resurrection of our savior.  We begin that preparation by looking at our own humanity, the fragility and anxiety of our mortality, and our recognition that we need a savior.  We place ashes on our forehead in the shape of a cross to remind ourselves that only God can save us.  We determine to repent, believe in the Gospel, and be renewed as children of God.  And we celebrate the love and grace God has for us by coming in Jesus to be our Savior.

Come experience this powerful and meaningful moment as you being your Lenten journey.  The prayer and imposition of ashes will take only a few minutes, so if you are commuting to or from work, stopping by while out doing errands, or unable to make a morning or evening worship service you can begin this season by recognizing and declaring your need for God.
