The Transformation of the Ugly Cross

No doubt you’ve seen this ugly wooden cross in our midst Sunday mornings during this Lent season at Spirit & Life Church. If you’re anything like me this cross is sometimes difficult to look at, difficult to reason with and to difficult understand. It reminds us of our sin and our part in this crucifixion story; it challenges us to realize we’re incapable beings apart from the amazing grace that the cross allows; it defies human understanding that God would choose this path to our redemption; and yet we know without the cross these Sunday morning worship services would just be social gatherings, our prayers would fall on deaf ears and there would be no hope and no future.
But this is not a story that ends with our questions unanswered, or regrets that weigh us down—and there’s no condemnation or guilt in this story. In this story ugly becomes beautiful and the barren cross comes to life. In this story we realize that God will stop at nothing to win us over.
The darkness of Friday is gone and the beautiful colors of Sunday are here.
Let’s celebrate! He Is Risen!
Below is our original Spirit & Life song Easter song. Join us as we sing our song this Sunday.
He Is Risen
He is risen, He's alive
Praise His name, glorify
Sing with joy all the earth
Celebrate
He's the everlasting King
He's the reason that we sing
All honor to the Lord
Celebrate
He is risen and He is alive
He is risen He is alive
He's overcome the grave
And made a way for us
He is risen and He is alive
And He's living in me
He is risen yes in deed
He’s alive and we are free
The while world will see
Celebrate
On the third day he rose
From the grave that couldn’t hold
The light of the world
Celebrate
He is risen and He is alive
He is risen He is alive
He's overcome the grave
And made a way for us
He is risen and He is alive
And He's living in me
