Lent Devotional 4

1 Samuel 16 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Samuel was sent by God to find a new king for Israel and in his search he looked at things that qualified the last person to be king. He looked at outward appearances. He looked with old eyes. How many times do we respond to God's call to live a different life only to judge that life with old eyes? Do we believe Jesus Christ is the only security we need? Do we believe new life with God is beautiful? Will we vieew our lives as disciples the way God does?
